ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

DAVID PARKS
His interest in Camellias is very broad from large flowered plants to tiny clustered flower species.  Of particular interest are unusual leaf forms such as Kingyo-tsubaki or weeping Camellias which he has collected with his father on numerous trips to China. His nursery has concentrated on Asian species since they generally grow well in North Carolina.

TOM JOHNSON
A Perry, Georgia native, Tom is the American Camellia Society Horticulturalist. Prior to this, he was the Outdoor Horticulturalist at the Carter Center in Atlanta. Tom is also an active leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

MILES BEACH
A Clemson Master Gardener, Miles is an accredited Camellia judge and exhibitor and a nationally-known speaker on Camellias. His personal garden contains 450 cultivars, and he has hybridized several including Mary Edna Curleee, which won Best Medium Bloom at the National ACS convention this past spring.

BOB WILLIAMS
Bob is vice-president and show chairman for the Coastal Carolina Camellia Society. He has been growing Camellias since the mid-1960s. His Camellia collection on James Island is one of Charleston’s best. Bob frequently presents programs on Camellia culture and is a member of the American Camellia Society as well.
