Magnolia Plantation

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens is now "softly" open! 7 days a week, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Magnolia Re-opens

America's Oldest Garden looks forward to welcoming you as we safely and slowly begin reopening select facilities at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

We believe in the restorative nature of outdoor spaces for both emotional and physical well-being. On Friday May 1, 2020, we honored the spirit of our founding gardener, Rev John Grimke Drayton, on the 204th anniversary of his birth by reopening the gardens to the general public.

As of Friday, May 1, 2020, general admission tickets include the 120 acres of grounds and gardens, the Zoo and Nature Center, the Children’s Garden, Conservatory, Gilliard Garden Center (Wed-Sun only), and Peacock Cafe. The Historic House, Orientation Theater, and Gift Shop remain closed until further notice.

The self-guided Audubon Swamp Tour is currently available as an add-on to general admission.

On Wednesday, May 20, we will again offer scheduled Nature Tram tours on a low-capacity and limited basis, with social distancing precautions enforced. Trams will be sanitized between uses. The Nature Tram tour is in addition to grounds admission.

On Wednesday, May 27, we will add the Slavery to Freedom Tour, again at low capacity and with social distancing precautions.

The Nature Boat and Historic House tours remain closed until further notice.

Public Restrooms are available except for a regular periodic cleaning schedule.

To help keep visitors and staff safe, all employees interacting with the general public will be wearing face shields and gloves. All members of the staff and general public will be scanned with non-contact thermometers. Social distancing will be observed at our ticket kiosks using stanchions, measured markers, and plexiglass screens. Sanitizing foggers will be used on contact surfaces throughout the day. Everything that can be done to assure safe practices will be done.
