Experience the intersection between art & science
Transform pure sunlight and iron into stunning Prussian blue art—no experience required.
Uncover the intersection where art meets science in Blueprint, an immersive three-session workshop (one online and two hands-on) that takes you step-by-step from an image on your screen to a handcrafted fine art print.
First invented in 1842, cyanotype is a fascinating fusion of chemistry and creativity. Using simple iron salts and natural sunlight, you will harness chemical transformation to turn everyday light and shadow into rich, iconic Prussian blue imagery. Anna Atkins used this exact process to create the world’s first photographically illustrated book—and today, you can master it with no darkroom, no enlarger, and no prior experience in photography or printmaking required.
Set on the historic grounds of Magnolia Plantation & Gardens along the Ashley River, this workshop offers a rare connection between craft and place. Here you will handle blue as both an artistic medium and a living piece of history on the very land where that history took place.
Presented by Tiguere Contemporary, an independent contemporary art platform and gallery founded by visual artist and curator Ty Davis, based in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
