K. Chapin Vasilake

Chapin Vasilake, is a graduate of the University of Florida where she received her Bachelors of Education. She is also a graduate of The American University in Washington, DC, receiving a Master of Fine Arts in Writing. She taught in Maryland for over 30 years in elementary education, high school education, and college. She was the lead singer in a Celtic band, The Mighty Kelltones, in Maryland for ten years. She moved to Charleston three years ago to be near her children and grandchildren. One day after visiting the Magnolia gardens, the fairies came to her and led her to a magical studio just down the road from the gardens. There she rediscovered her love of painting, and began to study under the artist, Joyce Hall at The Studio. She has studied with Joyce for over two years and is excited to be a member of the fairy team helping to care for the Magnolia Museum of Mystical Art (MOMA).

Paula Borgstedt

Paula Borgstedt majored in Art at the University of South Carolina, beginning in Fine Art and transferring to Commercial Art with additional studies in Journalism and Marketing Communications. Her career spans more than 40 years as a graphic designer and marketing communications manager. She has worked in corporate environments, as well as on a freelance basis, for a range of clients, locally and worldwide. She returned to her fine art roots about 15 years ago and began studying painting with Joyce Hall at The Studio on Ashley River Road. She currently has work in the SC Artisan Center in Walterboro and the Bascom Center in Highlands, NC. Paula loves the Lowcountry. She especially enjoys the wooded trails of Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. Many of her paintings are inspired by this magical place.

Joyce Hall

Joyce Hall is a contemporary American artist best known for her equine and dog portraiture. Raised in Maryland's horse country, she began drawing horses at a very young age. Before painting full-time, Joyce established and taught accredited equestrian programs at Tulane University, the College of Charleston, and The Citadel. Joyce is a celebrated poster artist for the Carolina Cup Steeplechase and Polo for Polio. Her work often features horses, jockeys, and sporting scenes, earning her awards at the American Dog Art competition and the Royal Canadian Winterfair. Her paintings have been featured in Equine Art News and The Artists Magazine just to name a few. Joyce currently devotes her time to teaching oil painting classes and workshops at The Studio, 2408 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC
