Melissa Melverden

Melissa Meverden is a teaching artist based in Park Circle, North Charleston. Her workshops encourage students to embrace creative play and self-expression. Melissa is passionate about nurturing creative community and connecting with other artists. Since 2022, she has served as president of the North Charleston Artist Guild, a monthly networking group.

Melissa loves to try new arts and crafts, and is frequently chases her muse in and out of different mediums. She is best known for her botanical gel prints, highly textured weavings, handmade junk journals, and her fairy-themed miniature bookshelves. Another passion is creative reuse – repurposing or upcycling unwanted items into beautiful or functional art. She hopes to bring a creative reuse center to Charleston, to keep useful items out of the landfill and into the hands of makers.
