Welcoming the American Camellia Society Convention to Magnolia
We were honored to host the American Camellia Society Convention, welcoming passionate growers, collectors, and friends from across the country to celebrate the beauty and legacy of camellias together. It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful gathering, one rooted in history, horticulture, and a shared love for one of the South’s most treasured blooms.
Our Horticulture Staff were stationed throughout the gardens, offering guests the opportunity to learn more about Magnolia’s history and living collections at every turn. Hunter, our Color Display Manager, shared insights into the seasonal color displays, highlighting how thoughtful planning keeps the gardens vibrant throughout the year. Gentry, Assistant Collections Manager, stationed in Sylvan Woods, explained how the Plant Collections Team has successfully identified more than 7,000 camellias across the property. Guests also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the greenhouse, gaining a deeper appreciation for the care and expertise involved in maintaining the collection, and a memorable moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the event, one attendee identifying an unknown camellia.
We are deeply grateful to the American Camellia Society for allowing Magnolia to serve as the gathering place for such an inspiring community of camellia enthusiasts. We look forward to welcoming camellia lovers back to the gardens again soon.
