Sweetgrass Basket Workshops with Jennifaye
Ready to unleash your creativity and connect with a time-honored Lowcountry tradition? Join us for an inspiring sweetgrass basket weaving class led by the talented Jennifaye Singleton of Geechee Gyal Baskets.
Class Sessions
We offer this workshop multiple times each year, typically with two sessions per date:
Morning Session: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Afternoon Session: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Jennifaye has been mastering the art of sweetgrass basketry since 1990, having learned the skill from her aunt. This treasured tradition, passed down through generations, is more than a craft—it’s a cultural legacy. Each basket is uniquely handmade, with no patterns to follow, making every creation a personal work of art.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own basket while learning about the history and techniques of this celebrated Gullah-Geechee art form. Jennifaye’s expert guidance and personal storytelling make this class both educational and enriching.
