Julie Duvall
Originally from San Bernardino, California, Julie spent her formative years in sunny Tampa, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design and Technology from the University of South Florida and went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design and Technology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, building a strong foundation in her craft.
In 2001, Julie made the move to Charleston, South Carolina, where she began teaching Costume Design and Technology at the College of Charleston. During her tenure, she designed costumes for a wide range of theatre productions, bringing stories to life through her imaginative and detailed work.
After taking time to raise her two daughters, Ava and Anna, with her husband Frank, Julie felt inspired to return to her creative passions. Since then, she has taught Fashion at the Art Institute of Charleston and Theatre at Moultrie Middle School. Her artistic contributions extend to her work with Pure Theatre and Charleston Stage.
Julie is also the creative force behind “Create with Julie,” a venture where she designs unique accessories and original artwork. As an exhibitor with the Charleston Artist Guild and the Palmetto Fiber Arts Guild, she continues to share her love of fiber arts with the community. She remains dedicated to teaching costume construction and makeup at the College of Charleston, inspiring the next generation of artists.
The Fabulous Fairy Fiber and Frock Factory represents the next chapter in Duvall’s creative journey, combining her expertise in costume design with her love of fiber arts and imaginative storytelling.
