Colleen Germain

Colleen imagine fairies as tiny winged witches and gentle, playful stewards of gardens and forests. They possess a childlike spirit that belies the power of their very real mystical wisdom, protective nature, and magic abilities. Growing up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, she spent summers outside all day and late into the evening. Her and her siblings played in the yard, jumped in the lake, dug for salamanders, and collected stones. Her godmother encouraged her imagination. She always believed in her as she continues to do to this day. Every child deserves to have someone like her in their lives, a fairy godmother who loves them unconditionally and tends to their creative nature. The Fairies & Flowers exhibit reminds Germain of how grateful she is for the playtime of her childhood, the love of her fairy godmother, and also, the experience of watching her nieces and nephews enjoy their childhood now that she is an aunt today. She tries to show up in their lives like her godmother did.
